Each bowl is blown
with carefully selected Reichenbach, Kulger and Gaffer imported colors
glass rods. These rods are approximately one inch in diameter and twelve
to fifteen inches long. They come in a multitude of colors and allow the
glass artisan to blow many different colors with only one clear glass
pot of glass. A one inch piece of color is broken off the glass rod and
attached to the blow pipe. After the initial bubble is formed, clear
glass is gathered around the pipe. A chunk of white color is heated and
marved to a point and attaché to the clear glass as the blow pipe is
rotated on the rails of the glassblower’s bench. The white glass is
wrapped around the clear in a circular twisting pattern and raked with
and ice pick in four spots. The glass is reheated, encased with clear
glass. The process is repeated until the desired shape is achieved. |
